Welcome to my blog. I am looking for a space where we can work together to create a class for children that have graduated from the Music Makers At the Keyboard program. For many teachers, these children are sent to private piano teachers and we sometimes have no idea how our work is being perceived. Some teachers are considering keeping the classes together and continuing their piano study in this format. There has been various successes and some failures. Perhaps we can create a supportive space for all our efforts. I want to approach the questions: how do we move these children forward in a creative and musical way.

  1. Thank you for this. Even though I am just starting Book 4 in two classes for the first time, I especially enjoy doing talks and need to explain "what I do in my studio." As someone who has had a couple great teachers, I have high expectations for what my kids deserve and imagine I may refer them out. But maybe with the support of a past teacher, which I have, I will keep them as long as it makes sense. And it's interesting that my most advance student loves "The book" (the Musikgarten book). I couldn't have it better really, but I want to keep his parents abreast of my thoughts, the student's goals or make sure he also knows what those choices are, as he may not know. Katy
